Lutfur Rahman, the mayor of Tower Hamlets, has been found guilty of corrupt and illegal practices. The election has been declared void and now will be re-run.

Four voters took legal action against Rahman, who they alleged used “corrupt and illegal practices” in the election last year. Rahman had denied the allegations, and was found guilty of bribery, corruption and other offences.

In addition, the elections of Rahman’s party, Tower Hamlets First, have also been declared void.
